I was almost able to give answers but still, I guess I didn't sound convincing and always left an impression that I'm just coping up with Chennai. Then I made a habit of looking for these things so that I could answer better and really come to terms with the reality that I like this place as much as I like my home town.
How is the place in general - Well I did not see anything that should have made me give a straight answer or add some convincing superlatives. May be I had a very bad opinion of the city before coming and here I am a changed person now for good.
Public Transport
- You can travel from Central railway station to my place for just 4 Rs(normal) or 6 Rs (Deluxe) Fancy that !
- Well connected metro trains running across the city covering most of the major areas. Not too crowded like buses and very very cheap.
- For just 25 to 30 bucks you get a Dosa, 2 Idlys, One scoop Pongal, 2 types of chutney and a coffee..... what more !
- Though most of them like the Elliot's beach I found Marina more and ..Places with Beaches are cool eg. a) Pondicherry
- The city is quite safe I felt. I roamed around alone in the nights – 1am or 2am and not once did I fear getting robbed or anything like that.
- I absolutely love the weather of Chennai… I am not a winter person at all and I feel better when there is that pinching warmth of the sun.
- Luv the petty shops selling Sundal, Bajji, vada, samosa with special hot chutney's any of this item costs you just 2.50 Rs a piece.
- I like the conservative nature of ppl here. Definitely the most Indian of Indian cities.
- As a Tamil I feel at home wherever I go. I don't have to memorize words and put them together to speak to a auto rickshaw guy (I hated that..).
- Best sound effects, and a great movie experience seating and snacks. And when it comes to innovation, Satyam are probably the front runners.
- Rs.50 and a sidey sickening 2+ hours of travel, but worth it ;- Home sweet home whenever you want to.

Hmm...looks like you are convincing yourself :) As an ex-Chennai resident, I agree with u on three of your points - Beach, Junk Food and PONDICHERRY!! By the way, where did you get this template for your blogspot? From blogger or self designed? Looks cool!
It's the little things in life that spice it up beautifully. Ask people who have been born and brought up in Chennai. They'll swear that there's no better city on earth than Chennai! The areas where Chennai would fall short of Bangalore are climate and westernisation and of course, friends you will have left behind. Since you aren't too fond of cold weather and like Chennai-rich-in- Indian-traditions, you should feel at home in Chennai with a great set of friends.
@Archana: Noooo im not convincing myself.. I liked chennai even before I came to bangalore in 2005. If I miss anything from bangalore its my roomies, and to some extend EMC..
@Meenakshi: correct, there are 100s of subtle things which makes an impact and impression about a city on you.. and chennai has given me more than 10 reasons in that way :)
sorgame endralum.... adhu namma ooru pola varuma :P
