One Last Thing Lads

He was a cricketer with some spice. As a batsman, I loved watching his fascinating strokeplay and impeccable timing. As a leader he gave me a sort of assurance that team India was in safe hands. He had that unique killer instinct that Indian players often don't display. I'm sure I'll miss him.

After staging glorious comebacks time and again to prove wrong the cricketing pundits who frequently questioned his abilities, In the end, the timing of the retirement was as impeccable as the strokes through cover with which he captivated the game’s aficionados in his heyday.
"I was tired of being humiliated again and again. I don't want to play cricket at the mercy of others. It doesn't make sense to play cricket like this. I have played enough cricket." Sourav Ganguly said in an int
erview. Those were painful lines coming out of a person who's legacy is that of a leader who took Indian cricket out of its feudal past.
Dada's impact on me is beyond cricket. There was a splash of princely attitude in things he did. Be it the lords balcony incident or making Steve Waugh wait for the toss, he did have the knack of rubbing up opponents. I will always remember him for his undaunted spirit. Those who hail Dhoni and regard him as one of the finest skippers should remember that it was Ganguly who started what Dhoni is continuing today.
At a time, when he would no longer be playing, will he remain the same icon that he is today? Time is a cruel judge, and people are forgetful. But for me, Ganguly will remain the best cricketer that India has seen and produced ever. You made us proud, Dada. Now lets watch the 'Lord of the off-side' in action for one last time.

I hadn't watched much cricket since my tenth std except for the world cup matches in between. And in those days when I was an ardent cricket lover, Ganguly was my hero, next to Sachin of course. As I am ignorant of Ganguly's follies, I'll always remember him the way I had known him then - A handsome talented cricketer! Nice tribute to Ganguly!

Ganguly will always remain as The first man who induced aggressive attitude into Indian cricket team. i have always loved his off side drives with impeccable timing

Ganguly, has taught the Indian Cricket team how to win consistently and also made them reliable

I had missed out those words he uttered in the interview. I was most saddened on reading them. Ganguly was and is always my favourite player. Sachin is the highest in cricket, but Ganguly is my favourite! Remember his days as captain and his tenure under azhar along with sachin, dravid et all as the golden days in my memories of the game. A crisp and honest tribute to a legend denied his place.

We were able to reach 2003 World Cup Finals because of this efficient, aggresive Captain who made India Proud in his tenure. Many successes, consecutive record victories under his leadership. Led India to a record 21 Test wins. Many many... Last but not the least "He is THE BEST Indian captain we ever had". We all miss you Gangs...
